Had 3d Custom Girl (going to call it just ‘3dcg’ from this point on), sitting on my HD for a while now but I only really got around to playing with it these last few days.  It shouldn’t astound you to hear the program was created by someone in Japan - an otaku most likely - with some serious code skills.

The premise of it all is pretty straightforward:  You have a digital girl on your computer and you dress her up.  I suppose it goes quite further than the idea of cosplay, because you can change the shape of the body as well.  Height, B/W/H, thickness of arms and legs etc.  You can make a spaghetti-limbed girl as much as THUNDER THIGHS if you want to recreate some La Pucelle stuff.

If you’re an old-school otaku like me, you’ll have a nostalgia moment when you realize that this is a very sophisticated KISS doll.  Those were the days, KISS dolls, spleunking IRC for bootlegs and fansubs…

…anyway…

3dcg is moddable, meaning with a bit of work you can pretty much do what you want with the program.  There’s tons of options out there you can download for the game, different styles, clothing sets, even items from your favourite series so you can try and recreate your favourite characters, or even just make your ideal 3dcg girl cosplay for you.

So far, I have something like six… seven gigs worth of mods, some of which I made myself.  Posables, clothing, etc.  Now, should be stated that this is a ero-game, so there’s nudity and sexual context etc.  Since I want to keep this particular post safe for work, I won’t be posting any of them this time around.

Backgrounds, situation rooms, and such are also moddable, and there’s pretty much something for everyone.  So far, I’ve seen things that appeal to me quite a bit, EGL style, plugsuits, even race-cut swimsuits.   I have like, 250 types of overknee stockings to create varying types of zettai ryoiki. orz

On the ero-ero side, the system is pretty simple.  Don’t really expect much as far as that goes.  It’s only really there for the fantasy element.  Most doujin-games that have ero matieral have you ‘paw around and search’ for sweet spots to please your would-be partner, in this case, everything’s pretty well labeled, there’s only a handful of things you can do with each position - so don’t expect any complex scenes like in Artificial Girl.

There are about 30 or so ’stock’ moe poses.  Currently with my mod packs I have a good aprox 150 moe poses, and quite a few additional ecchi ones.  Something about a nice high kick, frozen in time for the perfect panchi-ra… things to make you think the wrong things.  Thing thing.

Anyway, I’d say go buy it - but I don’t know if it’s even for sale for north american types.   The site itself spouted something at me saying it was not available outside Japan, maybe it was about my credit card or whatnot - but whatever the case: You can find their website here, and it is NOT SAFE FOR WORK.

During tomorrow’s livefeed - I will be showing off this game as well, if the viewers want to see it.  I highly recommend it for otaku types - it’s quite entertaining to set up the dresses on the girls. XD

I had to pirate my copy - because I couldn’t find any way to pay for it after about nine tries.  ._.

I remember when I first saw it in that weird little ero-mag I bought at a Lawson.  I knew they had soft-tops and molded substances for cast-off items, but this takes the cake.  Strechable bloomers on provocatively posed Shana and Kazumi.

I have learned an important lesson, wipe the lens on the camera down on the phone before using it. orz. :x

Sorry about the shoddy shots, the camera on the HTC was set wrong and all that, so it came out a tad blurry! Anyway, what you’re looking at right now is my Al-Azif Nendoroid, seated at the corner of the monitor at my desk at work. I actually spend very little time at my desk, I’m usually at the lab doing whatever needs to be done with the Virtualization servers, and all that… but at my desk I bring a bit of my otaku nature with me.

I have a four figures at my desk, I rotate them every few months. It’s always a conversation starter, and before I moved up to the laboratory role I now occupy, I had others down at my desk on the first floor. Anime and Japanese culture has pretty much been exposed to everyone now, so I often get co-workers that talk to me about the figures. Contrary to popular belief, I don’t even get teased about my liking of Japanese Animation, in fact, I’d say others are surprisingly receptive about my hobbies!

In this case here, I have two KOS-MOS Variants, the Fate/Zero Suited Saber, and my Al-Azif Nendoroid. (She likes caramel, can’t you see the smirk on her face, going ‘nyah nyah I have caramel and you don’t~’?) the only to-scale figure is Saber, the others are trade-box style figures that I got at Sakuracon.

You’ll probably see in the photos that I have two other ornaments: A smiley-face silicon ball and a hackey sack with a yin-yang motif. Both are stress relievers and just… well things to play with when I’m thinking or worried. It’s surprising how therapeutic desk ornaments like that can be. Just pick up the nendoroid and entertain yourself for five minutes… and bang, you’re a bit more refreshed than a moment ago, same goes with the hackey sack. At least… I find it works for me! ( ~-~)/

How about you guys? Do any of you bring your otaku items to work? how did your workplace respond?

I have otaku items on about everything - cellphone strap (Vanilla H from Broccoli’s Galaxy Angel), Keychain (Evangeline from Negima) for examples, so I guess they have a ‘warning shot’ before I brought my figures in. :3

Anyway, just thought I’d share those thoughts and questions with you guys… and let you people learn a little bit more about the man behind the blog!

I admit, it’s a lot more modest than my office at home, but I can’t really go about putting posters like I do at home at work - and some of the figurines… I can’t really see myself trying to explain to my boss why Yuukanalia or Rider in her bent over pose is appropriate for work. :3 My boss, unfortunately, is not Danny Choo. XD

Hayate Yagami 1/7 w/Reinforce has been delayed until end of month November

I assume they had production issues, since this seems to be a pretty complicated figure and all. In any case, the new release date is supposedly aimed at the end of this month. If it keeps with the original release date, probably around the 25th or so, but don’t quote me on that, I’m not 100% sure. ( ‘-’)/

I’m Canadian, but personally, Obama gives me hope for the future of the world, let alone the US.  Hopefully he will be as responsible with his government the way he was responsible with his campaign.

Congrats, Barack Obama.  You deserve it, after all that work, it was a hell of a road.   May the hope and promises you brought to people during your campaign trail find fruition, and bring prosperity to all American people; be it Republican, Democrat, or otherwise.

First off, I want to boggle at the fact that Taiga is voiced by Rie Kugimiya (Miss Tsundere), which is kind of freaking me out because she’s had so many… and I mean SO many roles these past two seasons alone. While it’s not unusual for a seiyuu to have multiple roles back to back - I didn’t know that so many could be done - her voice box is getting serious milage. I hope they don’t over-expose her. :x

The entries in bold and italic are leading roles, which means huge screentime. She’s been doing some serious jobbing these past months.

Anyway, Taiga is, in my opinion, a perfect tsundere. She strays from the overly loud and distrusting Louise from Zero no Tsukaima, and also strays away from the (in my opinion) too shaky Shana. Shana was a close call, but the creators nail the classic idea of Tsundere right on the head with Taiga, and Kugimiya-san nails the voice role on the head, as anyone can expect.

The reason I’m focused so much on Taiga is because her role in the series is a big part of what makes Toradora enjoyable. The comedy rests surely around Taiga in this case, and actually seeing her uncertain and tender side is really enjoyable.

The series is a romantic hijinx style series, focusing on the two main characters, Aisaka Taiga and Takasu Ryuji and their wannabe-loves with fellow classmates. Forming a sort of ‘pact’ between them to get Aisaka teamed up with her love interest, Kitamura Yusaku. Of course, like in most triangle-love-scheme-animu, the duo of Taiga and Ryuji are mistaken for a couple themselves.

Anyway, on the series itself:

The animation and art style is actually quite nice. The style is familiar to me, because the animator and art direction is done by the same person that did the Kujibiki Unbalance TV series a few years ago.

To me, it’s fine too. I liked the art style of the Kujian TV series, so seeing that art style again brings a nostalgic familiarity about me. This time it shows that they have a much higher budget though, because the animation is far more fluid and has less moments of ‘quality’, which Kujian sadly suffered from.

Toradora is amusingly cute. Taiga is adorable, and in my opinion, quite possibly a perfect rendition of Tsundere. She lacks the block-headed state that Louise seems to occupy, so this is a sort of breath of fresh air as far as tsundere roles go. Of course, Rie Kugimiya is the queen of tsundere without question.

Comedy side, speaking, the series is very entertaining. It lacks slapstick, which is good, and despite using some often seen situations they tend to keep the content and proceedings of those situations kind of unique. It tends not to feel droll or dull despite being cliche.

So if you’re not already watching it, and you’re looking for another series to pick up that’s fun and entertaining, I’d say Toradora is a safe bet.  Good voice, good art, good story, etc etc.

If you watch, you’ll make Taiga smile!  You’ll like Taiga when she smiles!  See?!
