Rock Band for 360 is my latest purchase.  I actually had it pre-ordered for a while but my local stores here had a hard time getting copies of the game.  I actually never thought until this day that I would enjoy the karaoke section of it all as much as I would the drumming.

Okay so I like being the microphone dude too!  I admit it!

When Dany gets the photos from his Camera to me I will append them to this post here to show us getting started on the game in Francois’ big ole basement.  We were six at the time, but we have no Bass, so we played 3 a time.  It was quite a fast start for all of us, as we’re pretty used to guitar hero.   The equipment for rockband is superior in quality to the Guitar Hero equivilants.

Going to split the post here, so click to read more on the game and its equipment!

The Fender that’s provided has new style buttons on it and they are sensitive to touch without being obnoxious, the strum bar does not ‘click’, which is like a game-breaker to a few people but didn’t seem to bother any of us.  (Some even said they liked it better that way.   Whammy bar is hooked so you have better access to it while playing.    There are two notable additions to the guitar from Rockband.  First is the option switch, which lets you change the effect of your whammy bar to whatever you please.  You can add ‘Wah’ effects or echo, or reverb or the usual tone shift.  Very nice.   Second, and the most important change is the ten button design.   You get five buttons at the upper part of the bridge, like the classic Guitar Hero setup, and you also get another five buttons down low.   These are closer together and are meant for solos, when you go into solo mode (when the track is blue) you can play with those buttons WITHOUT having to strum.  Makes for awesome solos.

The drums are remarkable.  Easy to set up, responsive, durable.  The only complaint is the fact that the cord to the kick pedal is a bit short, and since I’m tall I like to bring the drums up high.  Can make things a bit annoying to set up at first.  Drums are finger-flick sensitive, meaning you don’t have to hammer like a madman to get it to respond; nicely timed and accurate taps are sufficient.

The Mic is pretty cool.  Not too much to say about it.  It’s responsive, the grill upon the top looks solid.

Overall I say that the Rock Band Experience is far far superior to Guitar Hero.   The equipment, the interface on screen, the tracklist, and the fact you can play four at a time is a huge thing.   It’s like the greatest geek party game! :)
